DUAL-FOAM for Fly Tying (2mm/2mm)

Our DUAL-FOAM is a 4mm-thick laminate built from two precision-bonded 2mm sheets of premium fly tying foam, designed to give tiers a body material that floats high, holds its shape, and shows the subtle color contrast that makes a hopper pattern look real.

The 2mm/2mm construction is the workhorse of the laminated foam world. It's thick enough to anchor solidly under thread wraps without compressing into nothing, but flexible enough to fold cleanly for hopper bodies, ant abdomens, beetle backs, gurglers, and bass bugs. With two distinct color layers, you get a built-in highlight or belly tone that single-sheet foam can't replicate without messy gluing or hand-painting.

Why tiers choose DUAL-FOAM 2mm/2mm:

  • Two-tone profile mimics natural insect coloration

  • Holds shape under heavy thread tension

  • Floats reliably through long drifts and choppy water

  • Cuts cleanly for body shapes and Chernobyl-style wings

  • Resists tearing, splitting, and waterlogging

This is the foam you want for foam hoppers, Chubby Chernobyls, Fat Alberts, club sandwiches, large foam ants, mouse patterns, and warmwater poppers. Color combinations are selected and tested by the same fly tiers who use this material on the water, so you're not guessing whether tan over yellow or olive over orange will actually fish. Every combination has been on a hook, on a tippet, and in front of fish.

Each sheet is laminated, inspected, and packaged in Colorado. We don't repurpose craft foam, we don't outsource the lamination, and we don't cut corners on materials. If you're going to spend an hour at the vise on a pattern, the foam you use should be worth that time.

DUAL-FOAM 2mm/2mm is available in a curated range of pro-tested colors. Order single sheets to test a new combination, or stock up in bulk for the busy summer tying season.
